Honors Admission Requirements


Read further to learn what's required to join the Honors Program at NWACC and remain in the program. 

Honors Program Admission Requirements:

  • Must be enrolled in an honors class AND
  • Meet ONE of the following requirements:
    • NWACC 3.5 GPA
    • High school GPA of 3.5
    • Minimum score of 25 ACT or its placement test score equivalent
    • Two NWACC instructor recommendations
    • Membership in a high school honors program/society

Conditional Eligibility Requirements:

  • Demonstration of special abilities or completion of significant projects
  • Completion of a minimum of two honors courses at NWACC with a grade of an “A”

Ongoing Requirements:

To remain in the Honors Program, you will:

  • Maintain a minimum cumulative of a 3.5 GPA in all coursework at NWACC
  • Earn As or Bs in all honors courses
  • Take an honors course each semester (unless you have director approval)

Transcript Recognition:

  • Successfully completing at least 4 honors courses earns “Honors Program Graduate with Distinction” on transcript.
  • Successfully completing at least 3 honors courses earns “Honors Program Graduate” on transcript.

Applications for admission into the Honors Program are accepted throughout the fall and spring semesters. Admission decisions are made by the Honors Program Committee and they'll notify you via email within three weeks of receipt of your application.

PLEASE NOTE: The honors program is geared towards students who are planning to graduate from NWACC. Please apply if those are your intentions.
