During this 12-day study abroad program, you will explore historic Greek landmarks and gain an in-depth knowledge of Greek food by participating in cooking classes, archeological site visits, food market tours, cheesemaking experiences, vineyard tours, street food tastings, and olive oil production experiences. This is a unique opportunity to discover one of the oldest ancient civilizations through their long-lasting food-making traditions.

June 22 – July 3, 2026 (includes travel dates)

Students enroll in World Civilization to 1500 HIST1033 (Summer 2026), World Cuisines FDST 2003 (Summer 2026), Introduction to Education CIED 1053 (Summer 2026). Community members seeking professional development credit may enroll in Global Experience GLST 2001 with permission of the instructor.

TRAVEL DATES: June 22 – July 3, 2026


Day 1 - Departure - Monday, June 22                                                     

  • Depart home for Athens, Greece 

Day 2 - Athens – Tuesday, June 23

  • Arrive in Athens, Greece 
  • Airport transfer to hotel 
  • Check in - relax & refresh 
  • Orientation walking tour 
  • Welcome dinner & program orientation

Day 3 - Athens - Wednesday, June 24

  • Breakfast & day briefing 
  • Experiencing the Agora in the past and present; Ancient Agora walking tour followed by modern agora, Varvakeios Central Market tasting tour 
  • Acropolis and Acropolis Museum tour 
  • Free evening to experience Athenian cuisine in small groups

Day 4 - Athens - Thursday, June 25

  • Breakfast & day briefing 
  • National Archeology Museum and panoramic bus tour of the city
  • Ergon House cooking class with dinner

Day 5 - Friday, June 26

  • Takeaway breakfast and transfer to Port of Piraeus, Ferry to Naxos 
  • Check in - relax and refresh; Welcome to Cycladic Islands orientation walking tour with visit to the Temple of Apollo.
  • Dinner in small groups in Naxos Town on your own

Day 6 - Naxos - Saturday, June 27

  • Breakfast & day briefing 
  • Tour archaeological site of the Temple of Demeter, goddess of agriculture
  • Cheese making and winery tour in the interior of the island 
  • Group dinner included

Day 7 - Naxos - Sunday, June 28

  • Breakfast & Day Briefing 
  • Day of reflection and final project research

Day 8 - Monday, June 29 

  • Breakfast at hotel 
  • Transfer to Naxos port in order to catch the high-speed boat back to Athens
  • Bus to Nafplio
  • Early evening orientation walking tour of Nafplio

Day 9 - Nafplio - Tuesday, June 30

  • Breakfast at hotel
  • Day at leisure
  • Evening cooking class, followed by dinner

Day 10 - Nafplio - Wednesday, July 1

  • Breakfast at hotel 
  • Day at leisure
  • Overnight in Nafplio

Day 11 - Thursday, July 2

  • Breakfast at hotel, check out
  • Ancient Theater of Epidaurus and Ancient City of Mycenae
  • Late afternoon arrival at hotel in Athens
  • Farewell dinner at traditional restaurant near hotel

Day 12 - Friday, July 3

  • Breakfast at hotel
  • Transfer to Athens airport to catch your flight back home, filled with amazing memories from your trip to Greece!

Price is $6,600 if we have 12-15 students or $5,700 if we have 19-24 students. The price includes:

  • Round trip airfare
  • Domestic Flight from Chania, Crete to Athens, Greece
  • Lodging on site
  • Admission to sites and attractions that are part of the program's curriculum
  • In-country transportation
  • Travel health and extraction insurance
  • All breakfasts and four dinners

  • New passport application fees (if applicable)
  • NWACC course tuition and fees
  • Lunches and 7 dinners on your own
  • Optional excursions
  • Immediate medical expenses

As a participant, you may pay a reduced rate if you are receiving financial aid, grants, and/or scholarships in benefit your study abroad program. Please email StudyAbroad@nwacc.edu with evidence of awards prior to the program fee deadline to confirm exact payment amount.
