New Washington County Facility to Offer a Convenient Location for Students
For NorthWest Arkansas Community College (NWACC) students living in Fayetteville, Springdale and other towns within Washington County, taking classes is going to get even more convenient.
The college is building a new Washington County facility, west of Arvest Ballpark on Watkins Avenue in Springdale. The facility will house
the courses and services that are currently offered at its smaller Washington County,
Farmington and Jones Center locations. The college plans to have the new building
completed in October, and open to students for the Spring 2020 semester.
Progress on the new building:
This January, the last beam to the new facility was placed, a big milestone for the 38,000-square-foot project.
The first floor slab has been poured, the second floor slab is almost complete, and
the exterior stone will begin to be laid soon. The new building is designed to initially
accommodate up to 2,000 students, with the 20-acre site having space for future expansion.

Current services to move to new Washington County location:
Many of the services that students rely upon at the NWACC Bentonville campus can be found at the college’s current Washington County location, and will be moving to the new, bigger facility.

Courses to be offered at the new
Washington County location:
The facility will offer courses in general education, nursing, health information management, and emergency medical response and house NWACC’s High School Relations which oversees the early college experience program.
Note: Specific degree plans and/or selected courses of study will determine the attendance
location of some classes. Students may be required to come to the Bentonville campus.
Why another college presence in Washington County:
Although the University of Arkansas (U of A) and Northwest Technical Institute (NTI)
have locations in Washington County, there remains a need for unique services and
programs for college students. NWACC, the U of A. and NTI do not duplicate services,
but rather have articulation and transfer agreements, so they can all better serve
students’ education needs -obtaining certificates, transfer and technical associate
degrees, and workforce training opportunities.
Funding the new facility:
