Honorary Associate Degree


At NWACC, we value those around us, and seek to reward exemplary service and leadership in our area. 
 
NWACC's Board of Trustees periodically grants honorary associate degrees to recognize and celebrate outstanding service to the college and/or the community. The honorary degree is awarded to select individuals who, beyond their normal occupational pursuits, exemplify a high caliber of service to enhance the quality of life. 
 
Honorary Associate Degrees are awarded in six different areas:
 
  1. Educational Service: Recognizing outstanding service that enhances educational opportunities for the region or contributes to the success of individuals in higher education.

  2. Humanitarian Service: Recognizing outstanding cultural, scientific, or social impact that enhances the quality of life for others in the region.

  3. Servant Leadership: Recognizing outstanding service through volunteerism to serve others in any area of leadership and that benefits others or enhances their leadership capabilities.

  4. Arts and Letters: Recognizing outstanding contributions to language arts, visual arts, performing arts, multimedia, or philosophy that enhances the quality of life in the region.

  5. Entrepreneurial Leadership: Recognizing outstanding contributions to business and industry through creative start-ups of new enterprises or through innovative management of business or industry.

  6. Community Enhancement: Recognizing excellence in social innovations leading to enhanced connectivity amongst community members in the region. 
 
Any trustee, faculty member, alumnus, or interested individual may nominate an individual for this honor.
