Integrated Design Program
By participating in NWACC’s Integrated Design program, you’ll build an educational
foundation in artistic creativity, design-thinking principles, construction methods
and business practices. Students can earn a technical certificate in integrated design
which uniquely combines three degrees: an associate of fine arts (AFA) and an associate
of applied science (AAS) in construction and in computer-aided design.
With an AFA, you’ll learn the fundamentals of art and creative methods, with an AAS in construction, you’ll gain knowledge in industry specific, technical and occupational subjects, such as surveying and estimating, and with an AAS in computer-aided design, you’ll learn how to create detailed drawings of buildings, structures and construction site plans. With the addition of integrated design core courses, you’ll understand various dimensions of design, its materials and methods.
The technical certificate in integrated design allows you to develop wide-ranging,
creatively entrepreneurial, and multi-functional skill sets and provides you with
a competitive edge when entering the design-related workforce. The booming design
and construction industries in northwest Arkansas are looking to hire candidates with
strong foundations in materials, design-thinking principles and business acumen.
