Benefits

BlueAdvantage offers a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plan to our employees.  To receive maximum coverage under the PPO plan, in-network providers must be seen.  Access to the in-network provider directory is available online (select Find a Doctor, TrueBlue PPO).   BlueAdvantage offers nationwide coverage to members along with added benefits through the BlueCard network.  

As required by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), BlueAdvantage has provided the following  Summary of Benefits and Coverage (SBC)  and Glossary of Health Coverage & Medical Terms. The SBC provides information regarding coverage specifications and limitations that apply to NWACC's health insurance plan.

Delta Dental of Arkansas offers our employees dental insurance through the Delta Dental PPO plan and Delta Dental Premier plan.  You have the freedom to choose any licensed dentist for covered services however it works to your advantage to choose a dentist from one of the two different Delta Dental networks available to you. 

All full-time employees are eligible for coverage. Spouse and legally dependent children up to age 26 may also be covered at employee's expense.

If a subscriber visits a NON-PARTICIPATING DENTIST, the subscriber may be required to complete a claim form or pay a service charge. For services provided by a NON-PARTICIPATING DENTIST, payment will be made to SUBSCRIBER. The SUBSCRIBER is responsible for all payments to a NON-PARTICIPATING DENTIST.

VSP - Vision Service Plan provides primary vision care benefits including a Well Vision Exam, prescription eyewear - including frames, lenses with various lenses options, and contact lenses.

All full-time employees are eligible for coverage. Spouse and legally dependent children up to age 26 may also be covered at employee's expense.

Visit www.vsp.com prior to your appointment to review your plan coverage.  An ID card is not necessary and there are no claim forms to complete when you see a VSP doctor.  An ID card can be printed after signing up at www.vsp.com for providers outside of the VSP network.

Mutual of Omaha provides $20,000 Basic Term Life and AD & D insurance to full-time benefit eligible employees.  Coverage begins the first of the month following 60 days of employment. 

  • You must be actively at work and able to perform all normal job duties of your job to be eligible for coverage
  • Benefits are subject to age reductions.

Beneficiary Change Form

Mutual of Omaha offers all full-time employees Voluntary Life Insurance upon hire.

  • You can purchase additional life and AD & D insurance up to seven times your salary on a payroll deduction basis.
  • Elected coverage of employee, spouse, and dependent children is available. 
  • Life insurance benefits and guarantee issue amounts are subject to age reductions.

Full-time employees are eligible to apply for coverage upon hire

  • Short-term disability insurance provides a benefit in the event you become disabled due to an injury or illness
  • Your benefit is equivalent to 60% of your before tax weekly earnings not to exceed the plan's maximum weekly benefit amount
  • Short-term benefits are available for up to 12 weeks
  • Weekly benefits are paid once the Elimination Period has been satisfied

Enrollment Form

Mutual of Omaha provides full-time benefit eligible employees Long-Term Disability insurance.  Coverage begins the first of the month following 60 days of employment.  You must be actively at work and able to perform all normal duties of your job to be eligible.

  • Benefit amount is equivalent to 60% of your before-tax monthly earnings not to exceed $5000, less other income sources. 
  • Benefits begin 90 days after the onset of your disabling injury or illness.

TIAA (Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association is a 403(b) defined contribution plan.  Contributions are made tax-deferred so potential earnings won't be taxable until you withdraw them in retirement.  For specific investment options visit www.tiaa.org/nwacc.

  • Employees is 100% vested upon enrollment and at time of hire (this is a one-time, irrevocable decision for the length of employment at NWACC)
  • Contributory Plan - Employee contribution rate is four percent (4%) of gross earnings.  College contribution rate is ten (10%) of the employee's gross earnings.
  • Non-Contributory Plan - Employee does not contribute.  College contribution rate is six percent (6%) of the employee's gross earnings.
  • Elective Deferrals
    • All full-time employees are eligible regardless of basic retirement plan
    • Part time employees may be eligible
  • Roth 403(b) - provides an option to make additional contributions on an after tax basis.  Contributions are taxed based on your current tax rate in order to make tax free withdrawals later in retirement. 
  • Limits for Elective Deferrals and Roth 403(b) - The IRS limits the total amount you can contribute.  The 2019 limit is $19,000.  You may be able to contribute more if you are 50 or order or if you have 15 years of services.  Please consult with TIAA or your tax or financial advisor.

Salary Reduction Agreement

Arkansas Public Employees Retirement system (APERS)

APERS is a defined benefit plan, qualified under Section 401(a) of the Internal Revenue code, with defined contribution options. 

  • Full-time employees are eligible upon hire (this is a one-time, irrevocable decision for the length of employment at NWACC) and vested after 5 years of creditable service
  • Employee contribution rate is 5% of gross earnings.  College contribution rate is 15.32% of the employee's gross earnings. 
  • 25 years of actual service, employee is eligible for a reduced benefit payment at any age

Arkansas Teacher Retirement System

ATRS is a cost sharing, multiple employer defined benefit pension plan.  ATRS is operated as a "qualified trust" under section 401(a) of the Internal Revenue Code.   ATRS provides age and service retirement benefits for public school employees and other education related employee offering a wide variety of options to support most retirement decisions.

Full-time employees are eligible upon hire and is fully vested.

Employee contribution rate is six percent (6%) of gross earnings.  Employer contribution is 14% of employee's gross earnings.

The termination separation period is a very specific legal period as defined in Act 743 of 2009 and is strictly enforced by ATRS.  Failure to properly terminate and comply with the ATRS termination separation period is financially hard on the member
